Mental Health
Through our work with the NHS Benchmarking Network we support NHS mental health providers in the UK in benchmarking mental health services. Due to our unique position as suppliers of data and intelligence on NHS mental health services, we are frequently asked by national bodies to undertake projects on key areas including peri-natal mental health, eating disorders, older people’s services, personality disorders, CAMHS workforce and IAPT.
The core Mental Health benchmarking projects undertaken by the Network are as follows:

Inpatient and Community Mental Health Services
This Network project covers analysis of all bed and community based services for adults and older adults providing detailed analysis of bed based capacity, occupancy, case-mix and patient flow. The project supports the evaluation of what good looks like in terms of the balance of care between bed and community based services. Annual benchmarking reports are produced that allow participants to track performance changes against latest standards. We also support individual providers with projects to improve their local performance.
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services
Our CAMHS work for the NHS Benchmarking Network involves NHS CAMHS providers of tiers 2-4 services and covers a wide range of metrics including service models, CAMHS demand, access, activity, workforce, finance and outcomes. CAMHS is an area with a diverse approach to outcomes and our work reports on the different methodologies used. We have worked with a number of CAMHS providers on local projects to help deliver local improvements in CAMHS access and performance.
Learning Disabilities
The provision of LD services across the NHS is reviewed in this Network project and looking at service models, access and activity metrics, workforce, finance, quality, effectiveness and safety, as well as patient outcomes.
